fish bowl

I'm in the mood for spring...
aren't we all?

Daughter knit and pearl and I shared
the fabric I used in this table runner.
At the time I thought it wasn't really my style
but after I put it all together I really like it...
a little art deco style.

Today I have my sewing machine's feed dog down
and playing around with a few things to put in my peep's  mailboxes.
Hopefully a card in the mail will brighten up
another gloomy winter day for them.
Winters in South Dakota can sometimes feel like living in a fish bowl.

I love weekends

Weekend recap...

Directed by Aisling Walsh. With Ethan Hawke, Sally Hawkins, Kari Matchett, Billy MacLellan. An arthritic Nova Scotia woman works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community.

I loved this movie and highly recommend it.
It involves a lot of good messages.

Have you ever bought over ripe bananas to make banana bread?

I am...
addicted to knitting these little mouse sweaters

...reading this book because I have always been
a firm believer in making your own happiness.

mouse part II

Mollie Mouse has a "girl" cousin.

I think they will be best friends.

Mollie Mouse is envious of her sweater.
so I cast one on my needles last night
in soft pink baby yarn for her.

I have two more cousins and additional
wardrobe items rolling around in my head yet.

Mollie

I've had this project waiting in the wings for a long time...
just call me "The Procrastinator."

I love Maileg mice but I'm just to tight to splurge on one.
So there began the hunt for a pattern.
I found it online and had to order the British magazine it was in.

This one is my test mouse.
There are at least 5 things I will change on the next one.
I'm sure the granddaughters won't mind a few mistakes.

I may be crazy enough to be knitting a sweater for her.

sweets

I saw a lot of valentine cupcakes pictured on the internet yesterday.
It was all I needed to dig out these fabrics
and create a little something new in my little sewing sweatshop.

My cupcakes are calorie free...
Can you tell I have a bit of a zipper pouch obsession?
I made these large enough to hold a notebook and pens plus more.

Mr. b knows I would rather have doughnuts than chocolate.
Thankfully the nearest bakery is 32 miles from home...
if you know what I mean.
But we traveled the distance yesterday to
enjoy lunch out and some Dutch Oven glazed doughnuts and rolls.

Do you diffuse?
Daughter knit and pearl and I bought diffusers
 recently and really like them.
I love mixing the oils and the smell of them.
Plus they are also therapeutic.

sweet

We shipped out some sweet things
to the granddaughters for valentine's day.

These little purses have five compartments!

Melting crayons to make crayons is like Modge Podge...
therapeutic.

I love the pom poms I made for zipper pulls.

I saved the sweetest for last...
she was not mailed to the grands however.
I may have just given their parents a heart attack?

She is one of my sisters golden retrievers pups for sale.
(Don't know how you could give up this one.)

Happy Birthday

Mr. b had a big birthday yesterday...
hint: It may involve Medicare.

I was digging through a box of box of memorabilia
and found a pair of his grade school glasses.
So of course I made him model them.

Age is not how old you are;
but how many years of fun you've had.

time to travel

New travel/project bags from my little sewing sweatshop.

The fabric I chose may seem masculine
but I think they could really be used by men or women.

I hope I need one soon.

A funny thing happened on our way home yesterday...

This bald eagle was dining on a deer carcass in the ditch when we passed by.
When we got turned around and stopped for a picture
we scared him on to the nearest fence post.

To Native Americans the eagle was believed to cause thunder as it flew,
and some tribes considered it to be the Great Spirit itself. It was said that if you saw an eagle while you were praying or participating in a ceremony, your prayers would be answered. Some tribes believed that the eagle carried prayers directly to god.

bread

Not long ago my old bread machine and I had a talk.
I had to tell her that if she didn't start pulling her weight a little better
we would have to part ways.

So, I gave her one more chance before I took her to the curb.

This was awhile back and guess what?
She has been working perfectly every since.

It's good to have a discussion
with your kitchen appliances every now and then...
like an on-the-job review.

Best ever bread machine cinnamon bread

Give us this day our daily bread.

February

We enjoyed flowers on our breakfast table this morning.

Fitting I would say for February.
I love live flowers.

I learned my lesson with amaryllis bulbs...
buy them from a greenhouse.
The last three I purchased never bloomed
and there is no skill involved in growing bulbs.

I plan my amaryllis blooms for an after Christmas treat
and February is perfect.
