cast iron

I feel like a pioneer when I use my cast iron pans.

Cheddar and onion yeast rolls.

I paged through this magazine numerous times
before I slapped down the $12.99 they are charging for it.
Magazines are my vise...
but they have gotten so expen$ive.

I had enough dough left to make a mini loaf.

Other than being pretty I wouldn't recommend this recipe...
to sweet and doughy.

coffee

 Kona coffee bags

They are definitely one-of-a-kind bags.

This is Mr. b's newest screen print on a flour sack towel.
I love it!

And now it's time for a cup of that coffee.

fresh off the farm

As children of the 50's
 eggs were always farm fresh...

they were collected and put right into the frying pan.

After the breakfast dishes were done
three of the eggs were mixed in with mother's rhubarb for pie.

Tulips, lilacs, rhubarb, asparagus and olive trees...
there's plenty to love about spring.

There was one thing we knew for sure...

...she wasn't leaving the store without this wagon.

outdoor garden

Outside this morning...

delicate yellow columbine flowers

 parsley in the fairy garden

purple flowers in a hanging basket

Baltimore Oriole...
So glad we were looking out the window
when he came to visit because he won't stay long.

This huge pink tulip will soon be gone too.

"Memories"
by Dakota Maid

I call the zipper pouches that I print on fabric
"Memories"

I finished two orders this past weekend for a total of eleven pouches.
All of them printed on fabric.

I recently purchased another printer for my business...
making a total of three printers I use here at home
in my little sewing sweatshop.

All of these pouches will be for sale at the
Prairie Preservationist
along with two blanket ladders
Mr. b finished today.

playing tourists

"I think he went that way."

They have been chipping away on Crazy Horse in Custer SD since 1948.

Do you think they will ever get him done?
It's a noble project.

posies

The bag lady has been hard at it...

I had a little inspiration for the bags.

I can't resist greenhouses this time of year.

Well crap!

I made these zipper pouches with the younger set in mind...

Mr. Screen-printer did a great job on them for me!

They are just as fun as can be.

Mother's Day

Fun zipper pouches for Mother's Day...

Especially for mothers who like to sew.

Can anyone remember wearing girdles and nylons?

I love the vintage patterns I purchased off of Etsy.
I plan to frame and hang them in my little sewing sweatshop.

This weekend the granddaughters and I
published the 4th installment of our book Spy Dogs.

Their teacher needs to give them extra credit for this weekend project.
At one point granddaughter Cecelia says to me,
"Grandma! Don't we need to check that page for mistakes
before we print it." I felt chastised.
