Frieda

Frieda knows she has the most beautiful curls ever...

See the source image

And so does our granddaughter!

She likes to line up toys.

Friday post card

I took these pictures on a Texas beach...
things to do with your leftover yarn or
Red Heart yarn for sure.

This is what the granddaughters did
with some of my leftover yarns this week...

home schooling

I've been semi-quarantined with our
11-year old granddaughters the last few days.

There has been sewing lessons...
we made flannel sleep shorts and flannel pillowcases
along with cooking lessons...
energy balls and chocolate chip cookies.
Art is no problem with these two as
they love to draw and are good at it.

When they were done with their homeschooling
I took them outside for some PE in the fresh air
and they have been out there for hours now.
(I am old-fashioned enough to believe in fresh air for whatever ails you.)

preservation

We were picking strawberries
the first week of March in Texas.
I got them into our camper freezer as soon as I could
to make strawberry preserves when we got home.

Only homemade buns are good enough
to eat with homemade preserves.
One thing leads to another...

Irish

"May the road rise up
to meet you. May the wind
be always at your back."

These quilt squares are pretty easy to make
so I threw a couple of green ones together for
St. Patrick's Day.

I will call this my "Prairie Preservationist" quilt
when it is finished.
My sister has an instagram account with this name.
I hope this coronavirus scares us enough that we all
learn how to preserve a little more.

A cup of potato soup for lunch...
what can be more Irish than potatoes?

germs

Are you using a diffuser with all this corona-virus crap going on?
If it doesn't manage to kill a few germs it still smells good right?

I am a bleaching machine today.
I think my grandmother used so much bleach in her day
that she sweat bleach.
The saying "so clean you could eat off her floors"
definitely described her home.

Stay well...     ~b

leaving Texas behind

Do you recall me telling you here that I wasn't leaving Texas
until I saw bluebonnets and an armadillo?

bluebonnets - check

armadillo - check

As we were pulling out of our campground in Waco to head home
we saw this fella having breakfast in the ditch.
Do you believe in omens?

fixer upper

We arranged a stop at the Magnolia Market in Waco
before heading home tomorrow.

This place lived up to its reputation.
I was very impressed.

The cupcakes met my high standards with a ton of frosting!

Lets go to Luckenbach, Texas

Yesterday we went to Luckenbach, Texas...
now try to get that song out of your head today.

These two old guys sang it for us.

It was fun seeing it.

junk

We drove to Round Top, Texas to see what the
Junk Gypsies were all about.
Can you remember their HGTV show?

Their shop was pretty cute.

Mr. b perked up about the whole thing when he found out
the Barn Builders lot was just down the road.
