blues

Another sweet quilt for my pile.
Now I just have to wait for someone having a baby boy.

I enjoyed putting this one together...

I could almost say I'm happy with it.

Almost.

for the birds

“Birds are the eyes of Heaven.” —Suzy Kassem

Mr. b has a big soft spot for birds.
He fills 8 birdfeeders, three birdbaths plus lots of birdhouses
to keep his little feathered friends happy.

He finished this picture and birdhouse last week.
I am always happy to watch him doing the things he loves.
Life is good!

“Birds will always sing a song for those that they love.” —Anthony T.Hincks

I will show you a few more pepper projects I finished this week
then I need to move on...
well not until I make relish that is.

Two more embroidered flour sack towels to add to the pile.

And in case I use them for a gift I also have a card painted to enclose with them.

It's in the upper 90's here today and I'm hungry for chili.

puppy love

This baby quilt combines two of the things I love to do...

...embroider and piece quilts.
I used a lot of scrap pieces in it.

I like my quilts to resemble the quilts
our grandmothers made with no scrap wasted.
Today I will machine quilt it and hopefully bind it tomorrow.

By Friday I'm sure there will be a new quilt on my design table.

Calvin

 On the subject of birdhouses....

this is another one Dakota Man just finished.

Inspired by Calvin.

Calvin eats his favorite cereal, Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, then realizes that on the back of the box you can order a propeller beanie. But he has to send a "Proof of purchase seals" first. So Calvin tries to eat as much cereal as he can to earn the beanie. He makes Hobbes help him eat, but Hobbes does not like the cereal.

owls

Dakota Man had a request for a screech owl nesting box

and he loves a new challenge.

I learned enough about screech owls to know I may need one also.

I did not know they were the size of a robin.

peppers

While Mr. b ran uptown to get a green pepper for our chicken fajitas

I sat down and started an oil picture of one.

Let me tell you...peppers are harder to paint than I thought.

I enjoy working on paper as I can slip them in the mail

as a notecard after they are dry.

summer

 A good novel...sweet tea...a little stitch'n here and there.

How's your summer going?

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer
Just fill your basket full of sandwiches and weenies
Then lock the house up, now you're set...
Nobody sang it better than Nat King Cole.
