It's hard for me to get into spring
when we haven't had a major winter storm yet...
or winter for that matter.

I'm slowly putting away winter clothes
and digging out things for spring.
I love winter clothes,.
and don't believe in the
"right to bare arms"
my arms need to stay covered.

I think our weekend may include some yard work...
a little sewing,
maybe a good book in the sun...
(it may get up to 90 degrees here!)
and a hamburger on the grill.

rain

We are receiving a beautiful rain today...
and everyone knows flowers love rain.

Finally got this flower on my newest bag...
with very unclear instructions we kept putting the covered buttons
back on backwards. We ruined one of them in the process...
and yes I will be notifying the company.

I think it turned out very cute,
outside...

and inside. (Excuse this faded shot.)

on the line

I have to share what daughter knit and pearl brought me this weekend...
A new clothespin bag!
Isn't it adorable?
She made it for me.

I love the striped lining she chose for it.

I am sure to be the envy of all the ladies on Monday mornings!

farmer barb

The beautiful weather we're having makes me wish we were farmers -
enjoying the fresh air would be my occupation.
Watching our crops grow...

baby animals being born...
feeding my chickens!

But...we are townies.
I will have to be content with a small garden.

I'm warning my nasty chemical spraying neighbor early this year!
Maybe I'll threaten him with this chicken coop
 complete with a crowing rooster.
I would love to have this portable coop in our backyard.
Farm fresh eggs every morning!

crazy fun

If you were looking for crazy fun this weekend...

You should have been at our house!
Mr. b was outnumbered one to 6 females.
great-grandma, grandma, daughter, daughter-in-law
and 2 granddaughters...
come to think of it
I really didn't see much of him?

spring ain't spring...

Mr. b had to have one of those dreaded root canals yesterday...
(they don't do those for nothing!)
saving a tooth is important if you like to eat steak.
I didn't go along with him,
I was stripping...
wallpaper! wow, don't want to leave out that detail do I?

But he was sweet enough to bring me home daffodils...
spring just isn't spring until I have a few daffodils on the counter.

ps - stripping (wallpaper) is hard work
and I can honestly say a root canal is easier! b

spring!

Happy Spring Friends!

I have tulips up already!

What do you do on the first day of spring?
I went down and bought two packs of flower seeds.

I'm going to plant them early in celebration of spring.
Pansies are my favorite flowers...
they are so old fashioned.

I love the look of vintage seed packets.
They are just so darn pretty.

fish tacos

I took a break (or so I thought)
from purse sewing and decided
to make a few bibs for the shop.

So, Saturday we headed over to our local fabric store-
remember local for us is 20 miles away-
to look for juvenile prints.

Mr. b and I shared lunch by the Missouri River...
there was lots of fishing going on there.
Have you ever had a fish taco?
Delicious!

I found lots of fun fabrics for our Dakota Maid bibs...

Some of these I had in my stash bin...

I love me some fun prints and a small project!

By noon Sunday I was back to sewing on a bag...

I can't wait to show you this sweet bag...
but first I have to pick a flower for it.

Purses and bibs -
what could be more fun?

an irish toast

Here’s to you and yours
And to mine and ours.

 And if mine and ours
Ever come across to you and yours,

I hope you and yours will do
As much for mine and ours
As mine and ours have done
For you and yours!

etsy obligations

I'm trying to convince Mr. b
that as an etsy seller...

I'm also obligated to be an etsy buyer.

I received this soap from Faith, Soaps & Love
in today's mail.
It's smells wonderful.
The pretty crocheted cloth is made by
daughter knit and pearl.
We have them listed in our
Dakota Maid shop ;)

Nook

Daughter knit and pearl finally got her Nook e-reader.
Boy, she begged and whined (I'm sure)
until she got one.
Her husband probably figured out
a divorce would cost more than the Nook.

(I have a Zoom tablet and love it!)

Anyway, I went right to work making a cover for her Nook.
It took two fat quarters plus a little batting and interfacing.
I won't say it was easy...
I used a four-letter word after I turned it right side out
and discovered I had the flap on backwards.

But now that I have it mastered
I hope she needs a couple more covers.

fresh air

Spring, it seems, has sprung...
robins,
rain,
a light breeze,
sheets drying on the clothesline.

It was a busy weekend at Grandma and Grandpas.
With 75 degree temps,
it felt good to come inside with rosy cheeks
from all the fresh air.

joe

Is your first thought everyday...
"What am I going to wear today?"

No, it's not mine either.
I like to think I finally outgrew that fear in my life.
But my coffee cup does worry about it!

So I said go with that blue sweater I just knit for you...
it goes perfectly with those little blue packs of sugar I put in you.

What a silly concept...cup cosy.
But my cup has been begging for one...
and you know how I love my morning cup of joe.

all business

I'm having a lot of fun with these business card holders...

My sister has an incredibly cute blog...

Sall's Country Life...
check it out.

I thought this fabric was perfect for her cards.

Do you need a muy cute gift?

Daughter knit and pearl listed this in our etsy shop.
Don't you amor the colors?

Pair it up with a jar of your salsa (or store bought)
and fichas de Taco...

Who wouldn't love recibir a gift like this?

Ten un buen dia...b

junkie

I have a confession to make...
I am a fabric junkie!

It's a recent obsession,
maybe in the last year or two?

I get my 'fix' at fabric stores
and come home to 'use'.

AND...
It's hereditary!
I've passed it on to daughter knit and pearl.

We told our husbands they have retreats for people like us.
When I think we've gone to far...
I'm signing us up for one.

cleanup

Good Morning!
How was your weekend?

I managed to cleanup a few projects...

I finished a couple of waffle knitted dishrags
for our etsy shop...
I won't be making many of these...
knitting for others at under $2 an hour?
Nope not doing that.

I tried a new recipe for overnight rolls.
They were good but not great...
So I'll keep searching for a better recipe
and promise when I find it I will share right here.

I 'tweaked' my business card holders...

I'm keeping this one. I love the vintage design.

I picked up my crochet hook last night
to continue working on this baby blanket...

I'm getting nervous as my spool of crochet thread
is getting down and I'm using an outdated color of lavender.
I hate when that happens...
