Wash Day

It's raining here today...
so it can't be wash day.

I finished this flour sack towel and dish rag on our last camping trip.
There is never a shortage of dish towels and rags when we are camping.

barn wood

When  Mr. b goes out to his woodshed
and I don't hear from him for a bit...
I can always count on something fun when he comes in.

This little barn wood box really came out nice.

He is out of barn wood which means a run to the country soon.

green thumbs up

It looks like daughter knit and pearl may have inherited
 the family green thumb.
Her flowers were beautiful when we were there...
and raising anything in North Dakota is NOT easy.

a stack

My star quilt blocks are beginning to stack up.

She said "just 15 minutes a day" makes a block.

Now if she would just tell me to exercise 15 minutes everyday....

where's my groove?

After five days in the Black Hills I am trying to get back in my groove.

We pulled the camper there and just laid back the whole time.
We are so lucky to be only 3 1/2 hours from this beautiful vacation spot.

good dreams

These rhubarb dream bars may have convinced me
that rhubarb is my favorite fruit.
(Well...until peaches are in season anyway.)

They are just as good as mom's rhubarb custard pie
and easier to make.

I found the recipe on Pinterest.

SO GOOD!

Bug Off

Summer in South Dakota means big mosquitos.
See the source image
Which led me to dig out my citronella oil and make candles last week.

I know this looks like more of a commercial for salsa
but that is a candle in that jar.
I like to recycle containers for my citronellas.
(I also prefer my own salsa.)

When you're outdoors and the candle is done
it's easiest to just throw the container.
Don't we all have enough junk sitting around?

We are headed to the Black Hills in our camper this week
so I'll be taking this candle along.

She's got too much time on her hands

Have you ran across smash or junk journals online?
(I've been told I spend way too much time on Pinterest!)

Go find yourself a notebook or an old hardcover book like I did...
some scissors and glue and get started.

Remember making a scrapbook?
Well...this is the 2000's version.
Every generation likes to change things up
and declare themselves the inventor don't they?

I will eventually decorate the cover of my book
but I want to study that a bit longer.

Have fun...I am.

denim

I'm attracted to anything denim.
So yesterday I dug out my denim box and went to town on this bag.

Sewing over those thick seams was pretty hard on my sewing machine
but we did it with a lot of rethreading.

I used Tim Holtz musical notes fabric to line it.

I love it that these jeans worked hard
before they were turned into this tote bag.

the juggler

I am juggling two quilts at the same time
in my little sewing sweatshop.
Have I mentioned that I am a huge multitasker?
And that I love scrap quilts?

They are both being made with strictly scraps.
