masculine scents

I showed you this finch a few days ago...

...today I'm showing you a drawstring bag I made called the finch bucket.

It will hold a large project
and I included lots of pockets inside to hold the rest of your stuff.

I ordered wax this week to begin waxing canvas for my bags.
It will be a new to me experiment.

This morning I poured a small batch of candles.

I'm hoping for feedback on these as I mixed scents for the first time...
mahogany, leather and coffee.
It is a masculine scent. Our house smells wonderful on candle days.

this that and the other

I had a little rotisserie chicken left over
and you know I love chicken noodle soup.
I found another version for this soup on pinterest….

30-Minute Chicken Noodle Soup.
You can find the recipe on pinterest.
I added other ingredients the way we like it.

I finished a couple more angel pocket dolls.
And now it's time to look for another pattern.

Can you drive by a Barnes and Noble store without stopping?
I can't! I love the whole Barnes experience.
All those books and magazines under one big roof...the smells.
YES, I could be homeless there. I would hide out in the historical fiction aisle.
I seldom buy new books...I prefer them to be a lot used
but Barnes had two tables of hardcovers 2 for $10.
Who could resist a deal like that?

Happy Spring Today!

Sunday

Did you celebrate Saint Patrick's Day?
Mr. b made us corned beef hash for brunch.

I contributed Texas skillet brownies.
We would really like to head to Texas with our camper soon
which will involve some serious snow shoveling I'm afraid.

This finch at our feeder makes us believe spring will be here soon.

armageddon

I'm describing my week as Armageddon.
Last Friday my mother took a fall...she is slowly mending.
This morning we woke to a hearse next door...not good.
Today is like the fourth day this week of winter storms
and a virus warning just popped up on my computer.
Good Grief!
When it rains it's pours...which it did all day yesterday.

Sometimes it feels cold
And you feel all alone
But hold on, better days are coming
It can be rough in this world
I know it ain't easy but hang on in there
I know better days are coming ~

spring hens

Daughter knit and pearl and I think alike.
Her and her two daughters bought four chicks...

while I started a hen quilt in my little sewing sweatshop.

These little hens are a lot of fun to make.
As always I am trying to use up fabric I already have...
I love a good scrappy project.

I am using a specific color theme in modern fabrics.

Friday post card

I'm thinking about tomorrow's snowstorm
and for some reason lemons came to mind.
You know when life hands you lemons...

I took this picture years ago in San Francisco in December.
You won't see lemons hanging on a tree
 in South Dakota ever.
If my thumb ever turns green I would like to give it a try.

staying motivated

When I am finally tired of winter it is hard for me to stay motivated.
And the last thing you want to do is give in.

Today I finished three more blocks for my Quilt As-You-Go quilt.

It is snowing again today with more on the way Saturday.

My little sewing sweatshop has windows that I enjoy looking out of...
winter weather is always perfect for a fun sewing project.

Two weeks until spring arrives...
"We can do it!"

angel friends

I have been knitting pocket dolls again.

A little history of these dolls:

For the past two decades, Canadian soldiers and health care workers have given out more than 1.3 million of the tiny toys to children in war-torn countries and regions affected by natural disasters.
The dolls were inspired by and named after Master Cpl. Mark Isfeld of No. 1 Combat Engineer Regiment who was serving on peacekeeping missions in Kuwait and Croatia in the early 1990s. There, he often came across children with no toys or personal possessions, so his mother, Carol Isfeld, knitted little woolen dolls that he could give away to the kids he met
 (also called comfort dolls).

I think Carol Isfeld must be an angel.

see green

I must be craving some green in my life
as I unintentionally chose these greens
to knit my last three dish rags.

Outside everything is white as far as the eye can see.
It is time to see some green.
