Friday Post Card

Are you wishing what I'm wishing?

That this greenhouse was really mine come spring time?

old crow

I was feeling a quilt square today.

It is from the Farm Girl Vintage 2 book by Lori Holt.
It is full of cute squares to make.

(The little wooden bowl is from Mr. b.)

hi mylow

Am I too late for Love Your Pet Day?

This is Mylow, our daughter's family newest rescue.

He has lots of attitude and trust me...

you don't want to start playing ball with him

because he never tires out.

singer

I busted into some of my favorite fat quarters

to make these notebook covers.

I love a stained well-used recipe.
What a great idea to put them on fabric.

I have three Singer sewing machines.

I had a child's one like this before it burned up in a housefire. I latched onto this one on ebay.

I have my grandmothers vintage Singer in the same color.

Then I bought a featherweight Singer a few years ago.

All three work.

sisters

It was time for a little get-away

and our daughter invited us to meet her and the girls

for a couple of nights in Jamestown, N.D.

Who could say no?

These motel swimming pools with their slides

have to be the best and brightest idea of the century.

And this had to be the best quote this weekend from our four year old granddaughter...

"I like my sister because sometimes she will wear her clothes backwards with me."

Today we are back home awaiting a call for covid shots

so we can dig the camper out of the snow and maybe?

still go south for a month or two.

 Things COVID has taught me...

- You actually can do without

- Plan ahead

- Make do with what you have

- MAKE IT yourself!

There is a new dog at daughter-knit-and-pearls

and I wanted to surprise the granddaughters

with a little gift for their new playmate.

I grabbed an old banana off the counter

and added a little oatmeal to make these doggie treats.

I dug through my dresser to find an old t-shirt

(where in the heck did I get this convict orange tee?)

and made a braided dog toy.

I will add a handmade label and WALLA!

oh my heart!

I have a confession to make...

Mr.b and I quit exchanging gifts a few years ago.

When you've been married almost 49 years what more is there?

Cards, candy, flowers? Been there done all that.

Make no mistake...I like surprises when I'm least expecting it.
This isn't your get out of jail card guys.

Today I gave him homemade fresh out of the oven doughnuts
with pink frosting and sprinkles.
And hopefully I get shrimp on Sunday.
Now that's what love is all about!

happy birthday

These doll dresses were supposed to be Christmas dresses

and then I got busy.

So...I decided they could still be Valentine dresses

and then they got pushed aside again.

In the end I'm calling them birthday dresses.
I might get the red one finished yet this week, maybe.

There was a birthday at our house yesterday.

And birthdays are like everything else during this covid aren't they?

legos

Mr. b finished his second lego table today.

The first one went to our youngest granddaughters

and the second one was commissioned by a library.

The shelves will hold numerous baskets of legos
with enough room around the table for six kids to play on.

Lucky kids!

I love weekends!

We enjoyed a slow weekend at home...

There were movies, have you watched Fatima on Netflix? Don't miss it!

No Super Bowl for me...

there is just too much money involved in it, adsplayers and halftime show.

Beef vegetable soup because I can't let a weekend go by

without making a big kettle of homemade soup.

Building, Mr. b made another lego table.

And quilting...

There are 260 five-inch squares in this pile...enough to make two lap quilts.
They are all juvenile prints
and are destined to go to two special ladies.

play time

Who wants to play doctor and patient with me?

I had these American Girl clothes whipped up in no time at all

and they were both free patterns from Pinterest.

I'm so glad I have granddaughters to sew for.

bird bag?

I love making fun bags

and this Finch Bucket drawstring bag fits that description.

I had 3 1/2 inch squares left over from this quilt
so I only had to cut three extra squares.

I wonder why the pattern writer calls it a finch bucket?
It makes a great travel project bag.
