dish rags and movies

One of my favorite knitters posted a couple of dish rag patterns
on her Instagram this last weekend.

Knitting dish rags are easy and mindless
while I catch a movie on Amazon.
It only took me a couple of movies to finish these two.

They are always fun to throw in a little handmade gift package.

Camp Toad

See the source image

Mr. b and I get so busy making for others
that we sometimes forget ourselves.
I got my resident screen printer to print me this camp shirt today.
We are after all...happy campers.

vibes

I've been savoring this book for awhile...
I try to do a little reading between quilt squares.

I am loving the colors of the book and
my quilt squares.
Fall vibes I think.

Friday post card

It's always fun to discover a unique restaurant.
This is the Gristmill River Restaurant in Gruene. Texas.

Back in the heyday of the horse and buggy, farmers throughout the Guadalupe River valley brought the bounty of their cotton fields for processing at the new-fangled water-wheel wonder of the Gruene cotton gin. The original gin was built way back in 1878. That gin was used until the wooden parts of the structure burned to the ground in 1922. Luckily, the three-story brick brick boiler room survived, which is where the real history was made, 55 years later.

By the way...the food was excellent.

market day

This bag has been hiding out in my little sewing shop for years!
I was doing a little tidying up this week when I finally decided today
is the day for it and a few other unfinished projects to be gone.

At the time I didn't like the handles.
Well I finally decided too bad and just sewed them on.

It really is a cute bag and I have a ton of work in it
with the yo-yos and applique.
And talk about roomy...it will hold a large project.

books

When I think about simplifying our lives...
getting rid of books never even enters my mind.

I mean what if there is ever a book shortage?

Let's Flamingle

I haven't made a zipper pouch for awhile
(well...maybe a week or two?)
so when I spotted this fabric I knew what I had to do with it.

What's more summery than a pink flamingo?

And how about this soft as a cloud pink pompom
that I got Mr. b to make for it?

purple ribbon good

You knew I would...
I do every year at this time.

Mom's rhubarb pie recipe...
It's the only one I've ever used going on 50 years now.

search and rescue

We have been camping the past 10 days in North Dakota.
As you can see it involved a lot of playtime.
These search and rescue figures were fun for the granddaughters
out in the woods by our campers.
Our daughter picked them up at a rummage sale for a song and a dance.

rocks

Skip this post if you are hungry for steak
because that front rock reminds me of a well-marbled piece of meat.

One of our granddaughters got Mr. b and I interested in rocks
and now we can't go to the Black Hills without picking up a few
to landscape with in our yard here and there.

Of course we always bring one back for her
and this year she asked for a red one.

Daughter knit and pearl and I dug up a large Hosta
in our yard and we divided it into 6 plants to share.
It was so easy and mine are all doing well.
Now where should I put this years rock?

Friday post card

I'm always looking for inexpensive candle containers
to pour my candles in.
Both of these qualified...a jelly jar and baking soda can.

Have a safe 4th!

fireworks

I finished my red, white and blue quilt just in time for fireworks.
It's always nice to have a deadline.

It is totally made with scraps and I machine quilted it myself.
I will throw it in the camper to enjoy the rest of the summer.

This quirky frog is Mr. b's latest paint-by-number.
It's fun pictured with my quilt isn't it?
