charity sewing

It's nice having a stash of fabric when you live
so far from a fabric store like I do.
But I am getting tired of looking at some of these on the shelf
and would like to buy new.

Two baby blankets will use up four yards of fabric.

I intend on donating these to a charity.

Good coffee served here

Live bold...drink coffee.

A new bag from my little sewing sweatshop.

As always...lots of inside pockets.

THERE'S A WAY.

February embroidery

Whew!
Just about didn't make it with my monthly embroidery project.
I'll have to be starting another one soon for March.

"Life is short...Lick the bowl."

Life may be short but this month
of February has been very long.

These baked donuts I made yesterday helped.

up north

We spent last week in snowy North Dakota helping out
with a little granddaughter that had her tonsils out.

Where most people go south for the winter...
I guess we went looking for more winter.

I finished this raccoon pocket doll before we left.
I like to take small knitting projects on the road
but it's usually the no-brainer dish rags that I make.

I enjoyed reading this book, "The Meaning Of Names" while there.

Today I am drinking peppermint tea
while we wait for the wind to arrive
to blow around the almost 10 inches of snow
we received last week.
It's definitely been a long winter here in the Dakotas.

If I were to declare a national emergency
I would declare winter over!

love

It's the sweetest day of the year
so I pulled out some pink yarn and made cotton rags.
The whole time I was knitting them I was craving something sweet.
I may have to bake chocolate chip cookies today?

Have a love-ly day...

birthdays

We broke down and bought Mr. b
an air fryer for his birthday.
We've enjoyed chicken wings, steak tips and potato wedges,
pot pies and these cherry hand pies.
We are definitely giving it a work out.

I can't say I'm totally sold on it yet.
However Mr. b is loving it.
Where am I ever going to put it in my limited space kitchen?

I did love these cherry pies!

days of old

I love to knit...
it is such medieval process.
Woman have been knitting thousands of years.

After I got one granddaughter's request for red mittens finished
I started on a pair for her sister.

I call these mittens topsy-turvy.
I like that they are just a little silly.

Today I am finishing up a couple of wash rags
then I may cast on for my yearly pair of socks.

turtles

Our granddaughter Delainee left her turtle with me
to babysit until we see her again.
With our temps in the single digits I made him a quilt and a pillow.

I also decided we could use a little extra energy
around here and made these energy balls.

No Bake Energy Balls

1 1/2 cups old fashion oats
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup mini M&M's (or chocolate chips)

Mix the oats, honey, peanut butter and vanilla in a bowl until evenly combined. Add in the M&M's. Roll about 1 tablespoon of the mixture into a small ball and place on parchment paper. Repeat until all of the dough is used. Serve immediately or store in refrigerator for later.

I got this recipe from daughter knit and pearl.
We like them out of the freezer.

Tag Along Tote

This little cross body bag I made yesterday is the perfect size
when all you need to take along is your cell phone and some cash.

Oh, and your reading glasses.

February goals

Cute box bags because...

packing for a trip should be fun.

I came across this pattern and a few other favorites
while I was organizing my little sewing sweatshop.
I put them in my February to-do pile.

It will be all about setting goals to help me get through
what I call the longest month of the year.
