vintage/upcycle

Three new summer totes for the shop...

...For women that love hand-made
one-of-a-kind tote bags.

That Pioneer Feed sack tote may be hard to give up.

darn

We had the best Memorial Day weekend...
and I forgot my camera!

I guess it was the last thing to be loaded in the camper
when we discovered a flat tire on it...
the camper, not the camera.

The weekend involved lots of relatives, good food,
campfires and s'mores.

It was a great way to kick off summer
which is a very good thing.

Don't worry...
I won't forget the camera next time.

Miss Matched

One of the best things about getting older
is you stop stressing about most things.

Clothes, hair, makeup...
Nope, I just don't care anymore.
Today's trends bore me.

I made these ten bibs with that attitude in mind.
Backs and front are all mismatched.

I think they turned out about as fun as they can be.

Life is just too short to always match...

the good life

Weekend this, that and the other...

I could eat stir fry every week...
a good way to get your vegetables too.

It's bonfire time, finally.

I came across this pattern yesterday...
I have been looking high and low for it.

Life is good.

flannel

I've been catching up on baby blankets this week.

I've learned that self-binding blanket
 measurements must be precise.

pansy

We have been lucky this year to actually experience
a spring season in South Dakota.
A lot of years it goes from winter to summer.

My favorite flower doesn't do well in the heat.
I have been in states where pansies thrive like weeds.

I like old fashioned flowers...

and granny square afghans.

Postcards

I used a precious piece of postcard fabric for this bag.
Remember I hoard fabric pieces that I really like.

I love sending and receiving postcards.
"Dear Friend...Wish you were here."

surprise!

I had a very nice Mother's Day.
Completely unplanned, my four siblings and mother
converged on our front lawn to honor our mother.
This picture is mother and four of us.
Little sister came along a few years later...
also completely unplanned I'm sure.

the henhouse

We came home with 18 farm fresh eggs
from our granddaughter's little chicken farm.

They get 4 eggs daily from their fancy hens
in 4 different colors.

Their henhouse is a little taste
 of urban farming...
and a great learning project for two little girls.

The lilacs are blooming and they smell fantastic.

elephants

We went to the circus with daughter knit and pearl
and her two daughters this week...
What a treat for us.
"WHO DOESN'T LOVE A CIRCUS!"

I told Grandpa,
"Take plenty of cash because I'm going to need
a couple of toys and lots of junk food."

If you ever have a chance to take a young child
to their first circus don't miss it.

And don't leave grandpa and your
 9-month-old granddaughter alone too long.

That face!
Yes...she did eventually break into that candy bar.

I hope someone leaves a basket or two on your doorstep today.
