all a'bloom

Okay okay...
I promise to lay off of the pretty crocheted coasters for awhile.

I know I'm boring my blog friends with them
and I could be forced to begin handing them out
on street corners soon...

But when the lilacs began blooming I saw
an opportunity for yet another set of coasters called
"Lilacs"
I wonder what colors would portray olive trees?

monsters

Daughter knit and pearl and I were singing
and dancing to the Monster Mash this past weekend.

Using all scraps and leftovers we created
three monsters.

I didn't get a picture of the backs
but they are very cute too.

It's hard to tell how much time we put into them
because we were having so much fun.

They are definitely not your average
'monster under the bed'.

North Dakota

Oh my gosh...
we had a memorable weekend up in North Dakota.
We always do.
When I get together with daughter knit and pearl
 the ideas start rolling...
we never have enough time it seems.

It's always fun if we can squeeze in a trip
 to their friend's hobby farm.
(We raided his rhubarb patch.)

I would love to own a few chickens!
This hen is sitting on ten eggs that will soon be hatching.

We made egg cups for breakfast one morning.
Fun and easy.

I love finger food...

May birthdays

I can't let the week go by without showing you
a few pictures from our granddaughters birthday
last Saturday...

They are now 5...
and headed to kindergarten in the fall.

My sister and I would have died for this
Barbie doll house they got from their parents.
Shhh, it was a garage sale find!
I know, who sells their daughter's Barbie house?

We got them scooters.

And now I have to pack for our weekend
in North Dakota.
We are always excited to see our daughter
and son-in-law who live too many hours away from us.

Hope your holiday is great too...

Oh Baby!

Baby hats I've completed in the last few weeks...

It's nice to be able to use up yarn from other projects.

They have been blocked and tagged with our own
sweet Dakota Maid tags and will soon be
on their way to North Dakota and our next art show.

the Mad Hatter

I feel a bit like the Mad Hatter today...
I'm late I'm late I'm late.

I just hate that I'm losing my uber organizational skills.
Maybe instead of trying to do three things at one time
I will have to cut back to two?
I am a multitask-er to the max!

I finished up skirt #2
and just in time for a couple of big birthdays tomorrow.
Sorry, I didn't have time to retake these blurry pictures...
The skirts are in a box ready to wrap.

Mr. b helped me pick out these fabrics...
he is really good at mismatching :)

Don't worry this isn't all our granddaughters will be getting from us.
Homemade skirts won't be a very big hit with 5-year-olds.

fields of yellow

What do you think...
was I picturing dandelions when I crocheted this coaster set...

Our granddaughters love dandelions!
Through the eyes of a child right?

Mr b grouchily (didn't know that was a word did you?)
goes after every single one that dares to pop up in our yard.

Well, I just wasted 30 minutes of my lunch attempting to reach
Walmart after this newest internet scam.
Poor lady said they have received over 50 calls so far.
Some people are just so stupid.

summery

I thought this material was summery when I picked it out...

like a lemon lime Popsicle on a hot summer day.

When I went into the fabric shop I had
the Matilda Jane look on my mind...
but I discovered picking out NOT matching fabric
is very hard. I just couldn't do it.

And now I have to make another one...Twins!
I have to make everything in twos,
only different fabrics for this one.

summer?

It seems spring has alluded us...
and summer is here already.
Our temps have been in the 90's the last several days.

I can't believe I haven't visited a greenhouse yet.
I received a planter of these pretty posies for Mother's Day...
So pretty! Thank you.

In honor of yet another new season
I treated myself to a bowl of strawberries last night.
The Mr doesn't like them and I love them -
on pancakes, in my tea,
 in shampoo, lotion, body spray
and more.

little graduates

I believe that children are our future...

Teach them well and let them lead the way.

Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

We attended an unconventional graduation this weekend,
our granddaughters preschool graduation.

It was a sweet ceremony and
they were so all so cute.

slide down my cellar door

Oh Playmate, come out and play with me.

And bring your dollies three.

Climb up my apple tree,

look down my rain barrel

Slide down my cellar door

And we'll be jolly friends forever more.

Two sweet dolly blankets ready for
two sweet girls.
