It was love at first ribbit. b

lol

This picture in my inbox this morning made me laugh...

We're having a great holiday weekend here.
Everyone home makes a full and fun house.
The sun is promising to come out today,
which probably means more of those little yellow flowers
in our lawn to antagonize my mr. b

Oprah

Did you catch Oprah's last show yesterday? Her hour long message?

It was very inspiring...

One of things she stressed was what I have always firmly believed.
And that is that you are responsible for your own happiness.

She also talked about energy
and asked what kind of energy you bring into a room?
Something to think about, huh?  b

life after wedding?

I didn't know that life after a wedding would be so humdrum?
A year was spent dreaming and planning every detail...
it seemed like it was over in a blink of an eye.

I just can't seem to get with it here at all...

It was all so perfect!
I should have cut and carried a big piece of wedding cake back with me?
Sugar always cheers me up. b

stinky

Don't you just hate it when dish rags are always so stinky in the summer?

Well...
I purchased inexpensive white bar rags to use
and soak them in a little bleach and water in my dishpan
when I am finished doing dishes.
Works great! b

I hope you dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens...

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance...
I hope you dance.

May 21 = 32

May 21 can only mean one thing...
It's daughter knit and pearl's birthday.

so sweet then...

and so sweet now...

Happy Birthday Tildy!

1960

This bus in Disney World's Animal Kingdom had me stopping for a photo.

It reminded me of the '60's hippie movement here in the USA.

Hippies and flower children, Woodstock, LSD and marijuana, tie dye shirts and bell bottoms, Vietnam and war protesters and music by the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin.
What a great time huh?  It was all a world away from rural South Dakota...
or at least until SD moved to CA in 1973.
Hope your weekend is psychedelic. b

heirlooms

These beautiful handstitched hankerchiefs were done by our daughter
and given to us before we gave her away at her May 2 wedding.

The embroidered messages will always bring a tear to our eyes.
The tiny crocheting and beading is absolutely exquisite.
I'll safely tuck these heirlooms away with the hankerchief
I received from our daughter-in-law at their wedding. b

beautiful

Hey!
Did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?

May 2, 2011
St. Augustine, Florida

Yes, I know there's a groom...but first things first.
And didn't my sister take the most amazing photos? MOB

sisters are great

We invited my talented sister along to our daughter's wedding
in Florida as our guest if she would take pictures for us.

Well...she ended up being our wedding planner and consultant, florist, hairdresser,
 photographer and more!
I couldn't have done it without her.

Nothing went unrecorded with her camera. And her photos are beautiful!
Thanks a million sis. b

bullseye

We're celebrating two little girl's third birthdays tomorrow
and grandma and grandpa were lucky enough to get to shop for them in Disney World.

Toy Story characters are just about their favorite things right now so we were lucky enough to find these Bullseye's for them. And I loved shopping the Disney stores. b

chili-cheese pie

I'll give you a wedding time-out here
before I post more of our daughter's fabulous wedding...

This green chili-cheese pie was so good last night.

Green Chili-Cheese Pie
2 cans (4 ounces each) chopped green chilies, drained
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (I cut this back to 2 cups)
2 cups milk
4 eggs
1 cup Bisquick baking mix

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Grease pie plate. Sprinkle chilies and cheese in plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth. Pour into plate. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, 6 to 8 servings.

This is so easy. I like to add onions and whole corn.
Top with sour cream and salsa.
Serve it for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Have I mentioned our weather lately? We are having beautiful sunny days here.
It's time to start thinking about yard work and planting garden and flower pots. b

pretty flowers

Just like everything else at the wedding last week...
we flew by the seat of our pants with the flowers,
picking them up here and there,
usually at the grocery store.
These star-gazer lilies were beautiful.
We were sad to have to throw them away when we flew home.

I was so proud of us, none of us were buying into all that overpriced wedding crap...
flowers, caterers, ministers, photographers.
Even the bride's wedding dress was a steal online.

We enjoyed these fresh bouquets that we had rearranged.

A rose was given out to every woman to hold during the ceremony
as a sign of love and friendship from the bride.

I was so happy that the bride chose to carry the same bible
I carried at our wedding almost 39 years ago.
The bible was given to me as a young girl from my grandmother.

Small orchids and lilies adorned the bible.
So beautiful...
and again at a fraction of the cost of traditional bridal bouquets. b

I'm baaack...

What a great time we had in Florida
at daughter knit and pearl and her new husband's wedding!
I just don't quite know how to describe our week?

There was our fantastic beach rental...

and mimosa's on the deck every morning!
(after all we had something big to celebrate.)

there was dancing...

I think this was the father of the bride before he got the bill!

sunbathing...

and long walks on the beach...

swimming...

awesome food and cocktails...

24 fun people + ocean = a great party!
This was a quick preview of our week...
stay tuned.   b
