inspiring

This post is all about getting you inspired to do your Christmas decorating.

How many trees do you put up?

We took Friday off and headed to the nearest Hobby Lobby
in Pierre which is an hour and a half from home.

Pierre is also the city of the South Dakota Capitol.
We have a beautiful statehouse but at Christmas time it is
a winter wonderland.

I came home inspired...

  1. I am in the mood . . .
Used to have a live tree in each of the larger rooms.
One year we had seven, one 18 foot Blue Spruce, 2 small potted blue spruce,
replanted in the woods, one Fraser Fir, one Douglas Fir, two Whitec Pine.
Now we have one, although it is artificial . . .
I cut Cedar, white pine, boxwood, blue spruce, Douglas fir
from here on our property and make fresh greens in large vases.
    Makes the house very fragrant.
I recently found a field of Winter Berry.
I will decorate with that too.
I like more natural, than glitzy.
Our one tree will be filled with ornaments collected through the years.
We usually decorate soon after Thanksgiving
but being it was early this year I am waiting for closer to December.
Each year I seem to decorate less and less.
    And like it more.
My small family has grown to include others
and now it is a bigger bunch of us.
    We have different gatherings planned.
I love it when the house is bustling once again.
    Happy days ahead . . .
