The Great Race

We drove over to the next town to watch as
The Great Race participants drove down main street.
112 vehicles...all rare and vintage...
driving from California to Illinois.
What a sight!

No air conditioning with the heat index in the upper nineties...
these drivers and riders were still having a good time.

I seriously want this pickup...
but maybe in a celery green.

These gangster type cars parked in front of the bank made me laugh.

The presidents were there also.

When we got back to town we parked on a remote interstate overpass
and watched as they drove by.

I loved this 1918 American LaFrance Speedster...
chain driven!
The chain had to be oiled frequently
and replaced every three days of the race.
