Let's just pretend...

Let's pretend I just took a big trip...

and that this was the Pacific Ocean...

                                       And this was the Golden Gate Bridge...

And this was Pier 39 where we just a had a delicious seafood meal...and I bought this pretty seashell!  

Guess we're lucky we live as close as we do to the Missouri River to enjoy the water, but it's time for an ocean visit...b

Party Time

I don't usually go to party's...

         Never liked party's!

 Always too many hens at parties, blab blab blab

                 Is it come as you are?

Maybe even wear my pj's?

In the corners...

What's hanging out in your kitchen corners?

Come on over! I'll whip us up a quick batch of brownies to be topped with ice cream and caramel. Why waste time making them from scratch when box mixes taste so good.

I love using the old bowls and pans from Grandma Jessie...  b

Mr. Lincoln

Sharing today...

  A Mr. Lincoln hybrid tea rose that I cut early this morning, my favorite! Can you smell it? It's the most fragrant of the red hybrid tea roses.

   And I couldn't help pairing it with my favorite book, "A Lantern In Her Hand" by Bess Streeter Aldrich. If you haven't read it, please do. Written in 1956, it's a wonderful read. You'll want your own copy to read again and again.

   A friend gave me the other book, "The Magnificent Barb" after she found it on the give-away pile at our local library, well you know why...

   And the beautiful quilted table runner is from my Mother, she was raffling off some of her pieces at the family picnic Sunday and I was so lucky to win this. I love it.   b

Dip Me In the Water...

It has been so hot and humid here the last couple of days all I can think about is this tune...

Take me to the river...Drop me in the Water.

We have had so much rain and flooding all around us I don't know if I would feel safe taking a dip in any lake or river due to all the run-off problems. When they issue warnings about floating logs I'm never quite sure what they re referring to?  b

August

   I can't believe it's August already. Don't the days go by like a whirlwind?
   We had an enjoyable day yesterday with a picnic at the river with family members. With my side you can always count on lots of good food and laughs. We beat the heat with a large canopy tent and a misting hose.

Summer's flowers are now at their prettiest. I couldn't resist showing off a few of mine - again... b

Pillow Fight

Time out for a 'Pillow Fight'. Daughter Knit and Pearl got me started on making pillow cases and they have proven to be the perfect time out project and so fun and easy to do! I love picking out the fabrics, only fun fabrics work for me. I think the gran-girlie's will love going to sleep on these Winnie the Pooh cases, maybe they'll even go to bed on time, ha.

Sewed this Mary Engelbreit case for a friend's birthday. The words "Well Ain't You Something" and "Miss Smarty" fit her to a T. And whoever came up with the saying "Home Sweet Home" definitely knew her.

The brother loves anything outdoors- hunting, fishing, or just sitting by a campfire. He comes to see us once a year and  for putting on all those miles and using up vacation time I want to say Thank You!

And this one is for his dear wife Anne. She keeps the brothers home fires burning and takes care of their family of three poodles, two of which I pictured a couple of blog posts earlier. They're pretty cute dogs. I think they stole them from the circus!

These are so quick and easy to whip up, I would recommend them as a starter project for beginner sewing and as gifts for all ages. They take a total of one and a quarter yards and if you add a few additional inches to each of the three fabrics you get to add them to your stash! Ain't Life Grand?      b
