Chocolate chip cookies seemed like a good idea while the rain

 was coming down outside 

and Mr. b was shampooing carpet inside.

I don't expect to see this quilt finished for a few years. 

I won't mention how many quilt tops I have in the works at any given time...

because Mr. b reads my blog regularly.

Thankful I had a grandmother with unlimited patience to teach me to embroider.

I am back in my little sewing sweatshop today.

My paper doll quilt needs some houses.

Dakota Man also returned to his wood shop.

This little pickup is so sweet.

Easter Blessings

 We spent last week in the city with our granddaughters and their cats.

These cats were pretty easy...

it was usually one cat out, one cat in...

repeat all day.

I haven't dyed easter eggs in years.

These will eventually be deviled eggs...

I mean have you seen the price of eggs!

I turned two yards of cute novelty fabric into sleep shorts while I was there.

Friday Post Card

Our love of the ocean began in 1972 when Mr. b was stationed in New Jersey.

He rented an apartment a block from the Atlantic Ocean for us and that's where our story began.

When he was transferred it was to California where his base was stationed along the Pacific Ocean.

WE spent every spare minute by the ocean the first three years of our marriage.

I like to say we had a three-year honeymoon.

hot cross buns

 The second thing I did after getting home was to sharpen up

 my bread making skills with these hot cross buns.

I have never made hot cross buns. 

I was a little hesitant about putting cinnamon, allspice, vanilla 

and raisins in buns but they are delicious.

FYI: A hot cross bun is a spiced sweet bun usually made with fruit, 

marked with a cross on the top and is traditionally eaten on Good Friday.

(Mr. b says they are good on Thursdays too.)

candle factory

With our house sitting empty for the past three months,

I thought today would be a good candle day.

Now we smell like a candle factory.

Sunwashed Linen is the scent of the day.

buckets of fun

 We are home from our winter trip and trying to find a routine once again.

As always, we just had buckets of fun.

I dusted off my sewing machine 

and went right to work on a bucket hat for myself.

Boy! Did I need this at the ocean.

Buckets hats are easy and fun to make. 

As always, I used what I had in an attempt to whittle down some of my stash.
