Postcard Friday

 Petticoat Junction...
look it up if I left you guessing here.

Cooler temps today and I'm baking and sewing.
Dakota Man is in his workshop turning wood.

It's a good life!

Dottie bag

Due to my low energy levels I needed an easy and quick pieced project just to keep me going.

This heat zaps a person and today it's the smoke from fires doing it.

I feel for the people that actually live close to these fires.

This is a Dottie Drawstring Bag. It's only 8x10 inches.
I'll stick some little toys and candy in it and gift it.

Farm Girl Vintage

Can you remember this Farm Girl Vintage quilt that I started back in 2015.

Slow and steady is definitely my motto since retiring.

It took me a long time to take it to a quilter and then today
I finally got it out and took it down a country road for pictures.
I wish you could see the quilting...it's done in a chicken and egg design.

This washing machine...it's like the one my sister and I learned to wash with.
It always came with a warning from Mother, "Don't get your hands in the wringer!"

It doesn't make me yearn for the good ol' days.

clams

I think it may soon be time to head to the open water...

They were featuring a restaurant on tv yesterday where they were serving clam chowder.

I finished watching the segment before I headed to the kitchen to make my own clam chowder.

I knew I had two cans of clams that were way past their sell date...

just another thing I was hoarding for that day when I knew I would be craving it.

I used the recipe from Damn Delicious for Easy Clam Chowder.

I'm all about easy cooking in the summer.

boating fun

All four of our granddaughters
were treated to a wild boat ride with our son at the helm
this past weekend.

summer camp

We had company this weekend and grandma
is always the chairman of the arts and crafts committee.
This trip there were painted shoes and seashell necklaces.

They had a lot of fun painting their shoes
and they turned out as cute as can be.

I think we will be doing this again at Grandma's Summer Camp.
Tomorrow I will show you what our outdoor activities involved.

This little baby hat has been sitting on the corner of our table just begging me to finish it.

One last little detail was all it needed.

We are getting company tomorrow so it needed to be put away until I get it mailed out.

There's nothing like company coming to get my house tidied up.

Keep in mind that when I put things away they may never be found again.

This is an easy pattern that I have knit numerous times.

"Hello"

I have a new cell phone...

which is going better than expected

because I liked my old flip phone just fine.

I don't want another new one for a LONG time

so I made myself a couple of covers to protect it

when throwing it in the car or in my bag.

The top one will hold a little cash and cards.

give me a dime

There weren't very many spare moments this weekend

between potato salad, beans, brownies and more

but every one of those moments were spent on piecing my Five and Dime quilt.

It's going to be a fun scrappy quilt.

I wonder if I need one more in the camper?

When you need a quick dessert these fried apples are perfect...

apples, brown sugar, butter and cinnamon! Don't forget the ice cream.

Look for the recipe on Pinterest.

These are my picks for a five and dime quilt.

Magic Mill

My sister gave me her wheat grinder (insert happy feet).
It works great. I have my first loaf in the bread machine.
I bought my wheat kernels at this Amish store while we were in Oklahoma.

I love the process of making bread from the start to the end
and now my start got a little better with grinding my own flour.

Independence Day

Rose is ready for a 4th of July picnic

and a few fireworks tomorrow.

She will be packing all of these ensembles I made this week
when she heads to the lake later this month.

Flower Girl

This dress says 1970.

I think I need this bee outfit...

I have one more doll outfit in me before I switch to a quilting project.
I saw a line of fabric I may just have to have...
God grant me the will to resist.
