March

...and just that fast it's the end of March.

Beauty and the Beast

This grandpa and grandma were left speechless

and I have to admit a little teary eyed

by the musical our granddaughter
appeared in last night.

I'm wondering how seventh and eighth graders could put on such a wonderful performance...

not one slip-up was detected by my over critical eyes.

(Keep in mind here that all four of my granddaughters are perfect in every way.)

There was an hour and a half of singing and dancing

and scene changes among the 32 cast members and 31 production crew.

I wish I could watch all three performances.

Way to go kids!

I think it is amazing when kids devote themselves to the arts and sports.

bread making 101

 I was craving bread yesterday...

real bread.

We like whole wheat bread and I wanted it to be all whole wheat flour.

I made the first loaf in my bread machine and thought it a bit heavy

so I went right back at it and made a second loaf

using a different recipe this time with my Kitchen Aid mixer.

It was a little better as I put raisins in this one but was still too heavy.

I'm going to keep experimenting because that is what I like to do.

in tandem

Mr. b and I work in tandem with him in his workshop

and I in my little sewing sweatshop.

When he brought this little wooden guy in
I painted him to match the flannel blanket I am working on.

The blanket and a knitted cap are to be a baby gift
for a couple I follow on Instagram.

Crocheting around a soft flannel baby blanket

is one of my favorite things to do.

Pinocchio

I thought I was done with my paints

until Geppetto brought in some wood turned pieces

he had made yesterday.

This piece could only be painted as Pinocchio.

quilts

A short stack...

It's a good feeling to finish a quilt and give it away.

In case your wondering how many pin cushions a maker needs...
it's as many as you can make.
I saw this free pattern yesterday on instagram
and decided to stitch up one for St. Patrick's Day.

mannequin

This out of Mr. b's workshop this morning.
It needs a little tweaking but even so
it's as cute as can be.

Mother Nature's canvas today.

While the winter storm was raging yesterday I finished this afghan...

finally!

Friday Post Card

 Busy bee!

Today I am making chicken stock from a rotisserie chicken

we picked up at the market...

drying parsley in my dehydrator

and hand stitching binding on a quilt.

All while enjoying a cup of honey tea.

free-ranging

I'm thinking another fabric journal cover with these?

crocs and crops

Someone mentioned a chicken fabric journal cover...

And I got right on it!

The inside flaps are from an all time favorite piece I hoard.

I love making these fabric covers...like little quilts.

Like my Disney crocs?

What would we do without a crop feature?

Dug out a few spring colors

in my little sewing sweatshop today.

March 4

The birds are singing and there are sheets on the line...

I hope this weather is here to stay.

I finished the binding on this quilt today.
One down and one to go just like it.
All stash fabrics...I like juvenile prints a lot!

I used a second hand sheet to back it.

I dare you

She thought, "Go ahead, I dare you!".

Don't judge me...I'm a first timer to these.
They turned out good but not mall good.

I sprinkled half with salt and the other half with cinnamon and sugar.
I struggled with the pretzel shape but it's really about the taste anyway isn't it?
Unless Martha Stewart is coming over.

In the end I would be just as happy with a homemade bun.

lessons

If you would have been at our house yesterday

you would have learned a little sewing...

jelly making...

and candle pouring.

And if I was lucky I would have been teaching all three classes out of this shop.

We saw this arts and crafts retreat on Washington Island in Wisconsin.

Today we both got our first covid vaccination shots.
