Rose

Meet Rose...she is Russian

but speaks fluent English.

I have been admiring Waldorf dolls for years...

every since I saw the first one online for $600 and

I knew that wasn't happening.

They have come down in price considerably although
they are still pricey.

I wish I could say I made her but no,
I wouldn't attempt a doll like this.

I did make her this dress this weekend.
I even embroidered the collar.

Next up...she needs a pair of knitted shoes
and that I can handle too.

doctor

If you have to wear a mask to school it should at least be a cute one right?

These are all fun animal faces.

I bought the panel off Etsy and stitched them up in no time at all today.

I know exactly which granddaughter should wear that purple monster mask...

still life

We found a Farmer's Market in Iowa Saturday.

Boy oh boy...do I love those.

These peppers are presently being chopped up for the freezer.
Mr. b makes a great chopper, he gets everything finely chopped.

We love creamy cucumbers.
Just like Mom made...
sprinkle with salt and let set. Drain. Pour on sauce.

And now that I have my produce taken care of
I have a granddaughter that needs a summer outfit for her dolly.
Out temps are in the nineties today and headed for 100!

Keep Cool everyone.

the woods

We took a drive yesterday through the Minnesota woods.
Something  safe to do that didn't require a mask.

I came back with a bouquet of wildflowers
for our picnic table.

on the road

 We are in Minnesota camping...

I always start craving a bowl of wild rice soup when we get here.

Camp Grandma

At CampGrandma the last three days there were

sewing lessons for sleep shorts,

arts and crafts for penguin rice packs,

 baking buns and rolls

and lots of swimming.

I wish I could have sent them home with camp badges
because they did everything really well.

This post is for my sister Lisa...
the prairie preservationist.

 Peaches and peach preserves...
I can't wait for winter with these on my basement shelves.

water

It was all about the water for our oldest granddaughters this weekend.

We started at the lake and ended at the pool.

paint

We bought an artist table and put it our living room's front window
for Mr. b to do his paint by number pictures.

Previously he was stuck in a small bedroom off by himself.

This is a much better place for him to paint.
I'm happy that he has hobbies and that now I can enjoy his pictures in progress.

winner

Mr. b says my pies are blue ribbon winners.
Guess that means I'm a keeper and I will keep on making pies.

I finished this dolly sweater last night.
It was so much fun to knit
that I have another one on my knitting needles today.
I hope I don't get pie on it.

Black Lives Matter

It is FINALLY peach season and I was lucky enough to get the last crate of them
in our grocery store last week. I haven't had a crate of peaches for two years!
We have been enjoying them like there is no tomorrow.
I don't know what to do with this last bowl of them...
I would like to oil paint them on a canvass before I put them in a pie.
But that would take me too long. So oh darn...it's pie!

I also made this doll last week.
All this talk of Black Lives Matter inspired me I guess.
She will happily join all my other handmade dolls on a shelf in the hallway.
