sunshine and lollipops

I would like to tell you our weekend was all about cupcakes and daisies...

but it involved tons of yard work and cleaning up the camper.

The yard looks fantastic and now we just have to decide
if we are going north, south, east or west in our camper.

ps. The house furnace is turned off until the snow flies again.

pocket friends

These drawstring bags I made are headed to church...

to keep two little girls occupied and quiet.

I knitted a quick pocket bear and mouse to put in the bags.
I know the mouse will be quiet but if the bear gets to talking we're in trouble.

Don't worry...I won't forget to throw in a little candy.

dessert anyone?

In the little village of Borgholzhausen there are numerous houses,
a church, a shoemaker, grain mill...

...and a bakery that makes the BEST cinnamon roll dessert pizza.
Villagers flock there every afternoon at three for a cup of kaffee
and a slice of the cinnamon dessert made by the baker.

You can find the recipe for cinnamon roll dessert pizza on Pinterest.
 It is THAT good!

my grandmother's slippers

I ran across the pattern for these about the same time
I finally dug through four totes of yarn I was given a year ago.

Good timing!!
The yarn is all acrylic red heart...
perfect for grandma's slippers.

You knit with two strands making them warmer and more durable.

C'mon...who didn't have a pair of these when they were a kid?

These are my sample pair so please don't critique.
I promise the next pair will be better.

I always know someone that will be happy to test drive them...
mistakes and all.

dolls

Last week I decided I needed to polish up my knitted doll skills
and I made these two.

I found several new patterns I'm anxious to do.
In the meantime my little sewing sweatshop is gathering dust.
Knitted stitches take a lot more time than sewing machine stitches.
There are just not enough hours in a day.

today...

I did a batch of candles...hazelnut coffee.
I didn't keep one for myself the last time I made these.
Candle making is very enjoyable.

I have had a fun project on my knitting needles the last few days.
I can't wait to show you.

There's homemade macaroni and cheese in the crockpot for our supper.
Sometimes we like to eat like kids.

snow schmow

Another 12 inches of snow this weekend...
which buried our daffodils and tulips.

I guess as long as it keeps snowing
I will keep sewing flannel pillowcases
for the granddaughters.

Left turn

We made a fast left turn into a restaurant supply store last week.
I was in seventh heaven!

Only my lack of kitchen space kept me from overspending.

I needed a new paring knife...Mr. b bought me two new ones for Christmas
but the handles are too big my hands and the blades are too sharp and dangerous.

I lost my cast iron handle pot holder...these are cheap
and I would strongly recommend using one.

Wooden spoons are my fav...I am fussy about the size of mine here too.

I dropped my digital timer and broke the magnet off the back.

Wire whisk? I need numerous ones of these...don't quite know why?

As my quest for the perfect homemade pizza gets closer
I decided a pizza paddle would be nice to own.

A biscuit cutter...well this picture says it all.

seeking green

I'm looking out the window everyday
hoping to get of a glimpse of green grass.
For someone that hates the sound of lawnmowers
running every single day in our neighborhood
 once the grass begins growing...
I'm actually looking forward to that first cutting.
I love the smell of newly cut grass.

I just need green. I need
to wake up and see grass
and squirrels. ~ Andre Leon Talley

peachy

We spent a few days last week taking care of granddaughters
while their parents were in Augusta and Savanna, Georgia
enjoying everything peach.

They live in the city so while the girls were in school
we spoiled ourselves with the little things
we don't have here in small town America.
Flyboy Donuts, Starbucks and Barnes & Noble
were just a few of our indulgences.

gifting

The perfect hostess gift...
an embroidered flour sack towel and knit dish rag.

It combines two of my favorite things...
vintage and handmade.

Who doesn't love a handmade gift?

baskets

I needed a couple of Easter baskets
and knew I wasn't going to buy more plastic to overwhelm the parents.

And these are reusable!

I love making bags.
In my opinion, you can never have too many.
Especially little bags, they are just so handy.
They will make great traveling bags.

I'll be making more of these drawstring bags...
fun and easy.
It was fun picking out fabrics for them.
