an apple for the teacher

It was "Back to School"
for kids here today.

I stood at the window watching them
 early this morning thinking..."Poor kids!"
I can't say that I ever liked school.

thanks

Just a few of the things I'm thankful today...

Neighbors that share their corn with you...
these same neighbors also watch our place when we are gone...
water our plants...
and always call me when my sheets that are on the line
 are hanging on the ground.
Small town living has lots of benefits.

I am finally getting tomatoes and green peppers.
I only plant a small raised bed garden and this year it has been a trial.

After a month of no knitting...
I finally felt like casting on a baby sweater.
I love variegated yarn.
All those sweet baby colors rolled into one project.

What are you thankful today?

the return

I stumbled out to my sewing room today.
I decided I was up to a fairly simple project.
(Did I mention I had a total hip replacement?)

A friend's daughter will soon be having a baby boy.
And what new mother can't use a few extra burp cloths?

I really cut corners on these by serging the edges.
Simple and easy.

See Sally go

I can finally show you this project...

It was top secret for a long time.

Embroidered baby animals and
reproduction vintage fabric.

I loved every minute of working on this baby quilt
for our new granddaughter.

I had Great-Grandma embroider a square for me
that I made into a bib to match the quilt.

Welcome

We are back from a week spent in North Dakota
welcoming our new granddaughter into the world.

She's a doll alright!

We got to sit in on her first photo session.

Parents and photographers have lots of patience!
Isn't her headband cute?
Her mama made it.

rehabilitation

I am still rehabilitating here at home.
It's been slow going...

I'm not a spring chicken anymore you know.

I am in a big hurry to be on my feet by Friday...
Daughter Knit and Pearl's due date.

She (and her husband!) are definitely busting at the seams to have this baby.
