school

School is out for the summer in many places.

This year again I made small lap quilts (50"x 55") for our youngest granddaughters teachers...

one of which is also our chicken loving daughter.

Can you see the chicken fleece I backed it with?

I used a western theme for the other teacher.
I use what I have for these scrappy quilts. They make up quickly using five inch squares.

I hope they get used for many years and know how much we appreciate their dedication to children.

Our youngest two granddaughters are going to Disney World
next week so grandma thought they might each need a travel pouch.

It will be interesting to see what a 7 and 9 year old will think they might need to pack in them.
In the meantime we put small digital cameras and candy in them.

puzzling

I finished this small farm baby quilt/wall hanging this week.

I like the lines I chose to machine quilt it myself...gotta cut corners when you can.

I always tell people I find putting puzzles together stressful then I come home and make a quilt like this.

Sometimes I don't make a lot of sense.

Here's a reminder to stop and smell the lilacs today...

after the buns are baked.

Maple Farms

Dakota Man has found his groove again after a long winter nap.

I know I say this every time but...I love this bowl he turned from maple that he picked up in Texas.

biscuits and gravy

 How does that song go?

"So hoe your own row and raise your own babies. Smoke your own smoke and grow your own daisies. Mend your own fences and own your own crazy. Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy"

I like Kaycee Musgraves music don't you?

Now where was I? I've been anxious to use some of my sourdough starter so this morning I put together some sourdough biscuits...butter, cream cheese, cream and sourdough discard. All the ingredients for good cooking and life. 53 years later and I could still walk through the creamery dad worked in with my eyes shut.

And we did eat them covered with sausage gravy.
