Quick

My quick may mean 7 hours later...

"I'll just make a quick loaf of oatmeal raisin bread."

Or "Hand me that freezer basket and I"ll clean it out quick,"

which involved finding a frozen bag of chicken bones for stock.

And then there's, "I'll just cut out a few pieces for my farm quilt."

I hope I inspired you here to fill your day with "quick" projects.

Fab Farm

Today was a good day to start another quilt. A Farm quilt.

I started with the cute horse square with a strawberry on it.

With 73 pieces to cut and sew in just this one square alone it won't be a quick quilt although I am making the small version of it for now, 38"x39".

It will be a cute baby quilt.

Next up is a goat.

Cubano

Get out your panini press you're going to want one of these.

Marinated pork tenderloin, ham, swiss cheese, pickles and lots of mustard all on a cuban bun.
Movies and the internet are responsible for all the triggers in my life.

back to school

It's back to school here today which means we can finally head out with our rv.

Campground crowds will be thinning out. This weeks heat which is predicted to be 107 and in the hundreds for the next three days wouldn't be fun in an rv however. Texas needs to come get their weather.

I found a free pattern for this pencil case and I love a freebie. This is leftover fabric from a pair of sleep shorts I made for a granddaughter. It came out cute, the shorts and pencil case.

Aside from the heat it's been a fun couple of days here. The butterflies are migrating through feeding on my patio flowers. This morning we spotted numberous orioles at our feeder and there was a frog a'croaking in our backyard.

peachy keen

Guess What!

It's peach season in Colorado which means we have them in South Dakota.

And they cost an arm and a leg. But I will give something else up before I give up these once a year peaches.

We have been enjoying them several times a day. We had a fruit plate for breakfast then later I made a 3-Minute Peach Cobbler Mug Cake to share.

Enjoy

Juliet

Our herbicidal neigbor died a few years ago and this is the first year that I have been brave enough to plant a couple of tomato plants again. It literally took me years to figure out why my garden wasn't thriving until I came home one day to the very strong smell of weed killer in the air.

We are pretty thrilled with the two plants. They are a Juliet variety. We planted them late in the season and they are beyond thriving...growing up over the top of our six foot fence with hundreds of small salad tomatoes and more to come.

I enjoy painting fruits and vegetables practicing everyday.

lakes and carnivals

We made it to the lake for 4 days then to Valley Fair in Minnesota.

No grass grew under our feet for 5 consecutive days.

I think lily pad floats are just about the greatest invention of the century.

Kids will play for hours on them. We couldn't get these kids off of it even in the rain.

We celebrated these two granddaughters 7th and 9th birthdays.
I think it was a fun birthday for both of them.

We had great time.

August

I'm always relieved when the hot month of July is over.

August leads into September which is my favorite for lots of reasons.
