Friday post card

Today we are back in Wyoming.
Or as I call it...the cowboy state.
Mr. b even managed to find a couple of the western books
that he likes to read here in a grocery store.

Tomorrow we will be in South Dakota.
I'll be comparing buffalo...and predict Montana's buffalo will be winners.

This morning we got up before dawn and headed into Yellowstone 

hoping to get a glimpse of a bear.

 I couldn't believe how many there were of us all standing beside the road 

with binoculars and telescopes looking for a grizzly.

We did spot one.

We also saw a fox, a coyote, antelope, wolf, elk, a mountain goat

and this big guy taking a dirt bath.

We have two more days in Yellowstone 

and feel lucky that we got to see it 

but are wondering if we will ever see it again.

I have been collecting brochures and books along the way.

I love to read about the places we are in while there.

Tomorrow we are getting up early to have breakfast 

with the bears, elk and buffalo.

Big Horn

We are in Buffalo, Wyoming
headed to Yellowstone.

Today we went into the Big Horn mountains.

I can never pass up a chance to wade into a cold stream.

Mr. b volunteered to do chicken chores last weekend...

Who would turn down an opportunity to play farmer right?

 

 

We always enjoy this little farm when we visit North Dakota.

Exotic chickens and cats plus two friendly horses.

 

 

He has a garden that Old MacDonald would envy.

 

 

We stopped at a farmer's market twice to load up on fresh vegetables.

Loons, boat rides, swimming, birthday cake,

 grilled hamburgers, karaoke music...

 

Eight fabulous days by the lake was just what the doctor ordered.

We are headed to the lake for a week

This weekend I dug into my small stack

 of Harry Potter fat quarters for these quilt-as-you-go zipper pouches.

Our eleven-year-old granddaughters are crazy about Harry Potter.

We have a ninety-two year old neighbor that loves to

hop in his pickup and head to the river to fish in his boat.

I am always amazed when I see him heading out.

I took these pictures on our Michigan trip.

turtle dreams

I picked up a fun stack of these novelty fat quarters at Wal Mart.

I haven't decided what to do with them yet...

but you would be amazed at what you can make with a fat quarter.

Our son has a bag of Mutant Ninja Turtles here from his kid days.

They are fun to run across...it sure brings back his little boy days.

I had a strange dream years ago

 that we all went to heaven as Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Please don't try to analyze that one.
