this that and the other

Mr. b put a beer can chicken on the smoker this morning.
I'm calling it "Naked and Afraid."

I made English muffins for the first time last week.
They turned out good but I need to cut out a little larger next time.

I started this rather ambitious embroidery project this week.
I originally bought it for my mother but it overwhelmed her too.
I am determined to work on it in baby steps.
It is after all a baby blanket.

roBOTS

We worked on roBOTS this weekend.
I contributed very little...the Modge Podge portion
and a few pieces from my little sewing sweatshop.

Dakota Man calls them junk...
all pieces are picked up from his woodshop floor.

I love looking around the house for photo backdrops
and using some of my antiques.

Did you watch last nights Grammy Awards?
You know you're getting old
when you watched all night just to hear Elton John and Sting.

Friday post card

I'm feeling like a little road trip may be in order.
January always does that doesn't it?
Anyone else feeling cooped up?

penguins

One of our granddaughters asked me
 to make her a penguin...

so I made two!
One for her and one for her sister.

We have four granddaughters so I'm thinking
these won't be the last two I make.

Tuesday

It's a ho-hum Tuesday here.
Does anyone else need fresh air as badly as I do?

Dakota Man made these sweet robots before Christmas.
I'm sure they are girl robots...see that cell phone key pad?

Do you remember getting these Lifesaver books as a child?
I always hoped I would get one at school for our Christmas gift exchange.

The price of a book in the 1950's...49 cents.
No kidding! I looked it up.

The Zoo

I had a Modge Podge therapy* session this weekend.

It really is therapeutic.

This set is zoo animals.
Nine blocks in all.

Now let's plan a trip to the zoo!

*Modge Podge therapy as quoted by my sister.

camper fun

After I posted yesterday's to-go (project) bags
I made another one.

 (flexible robot by Dakota Man)

I received this camper fabric for Christmas and LOVE IT!!
I may have to go on a hunt for more of it.

I always throw a small knitting project
in our camper when we go camping.
I am determined to complete a pair of socks every camping season
and this will be the perfect bag to keep my yarn and needles in.
Can you tell I am dreaming ahead to camping season?

large zipper bags

To-Go bags...

12 inches wide and 11 inches high...
these large project bags will hold your yarn
as well as needles, instructions and more.

It's nice to store your project in it's own bag to keep it all together.
There is nothing more frustrating than stitches slipping off your needle.

Of course they can also be used for a variety of other things too.

moose tracks

this, that and the other...

Our son-in-law took this picture a couple weeks ago
while he was out pheasant hunting in North Dakota.
I don't know if he saw any pheasants but I bet he wishes he had a moose license.

Mr. b went out in minus temps to take this picture
of the wolf moon earlier this month in North Dakota.
We are looking forward to the blue moon.

Christmas has been put away at our house
but I always leave Ulf and the Christmas quilt
my daughter made me out for the winter.

It is below zero here.
A good day to tuck in with some hand work I say.

Friday post card

I wouldn't mind spending the weekend in this cabin
by the frozen lake and in front of that fireplace...
while knitting of course.

colds

Despite battling a cold for the past 7 days...
and thanks to Mucinex DM...
I did manage to pop out a couple of tote bags.

I love the fabrics I used for them.
A mix of recycled and new.

For the most part there has been a lot of knitting, Netflix
and tea going on around here.

knitting

Honestly!
I thought I would never get these socks done.

I actually knit three socks after discovering a mistake on the toe of the second sock.
It was a major mistake. There was no overlooking this one.

Dakota Man made me these oak sock blockers/stretchers.
Aren't they beautiful? I just may hang these as art.

This little sparrow has the perfect spot on our patio
for observing other birds at our feeders.

doll making

Are you ever to old for a new doll?

I made this one for daughter knit and pearl.

Her and her daughters raise a few chickens.

dolls

I made these dolls for our youngest granddaughters
for Christmas.

I made these same dolls a few years ago
 for our twin granddaughters.

Time and patience are my virtues.

we are the dollmakers, it is WHO we are."

It was rewarding to watch the girls play with them.

Frosty

Happy New Year!
We are back from the frozen tundra...or North Dakota.
-20's temps, wind chills in the minus 50's.
Thank you furnaces that work so hard this time of year.

This scarf will help keep one of our granddaughters warm.
I got the pattern off of Ravelry a few years ago...
but still waited until the last minute to make it for her.

Grandpa made that sweet little truck for her little sister.
You will see how busy we were from my next few posts.

You never know what may come along
 with a fresh new start
so don't be sad when something is over.
