Happy Pancake Day!
I broke out our Vermont syrup and warmed it up in my
Farmhouse Pottery pitcher that we bought while in
Woodstock, Vermont this last fall.
Trust me...it was a splurge.

I like to make my pancakes from scratch...
but if I'm in a hurry we like Krusteaz just add water mix.
If we don't have the real thing...
I will only buy Mrs. Butterworth syrup.
And now I need to walk these pancakes off.

feed sack project

Tablecloth or baby quilt?
It's hard to imagine that this could double for both.
Either way I have been getting a lot of practice dropping
my feed dog for free motion quilting.
I love the 1930's feed sack reproduction fabrics I used in it.
The larger pieces were a nice change of pace versus the little pieces
I normally sew together for my projects.

With winter comes a lot of scrapping...
or do I mean scrabbling?
Squabbling for sure!

bits and pieces

I dug out my Farm Girl Vintage quilt book this weekend
to begin a couple of table runners.
You will recall I made the 12 inch blocks for a quilt top...
yet to be quilted.
The table runners call for 6-inch blocks
which means a lot of tiny pieces...
some as small as 3/4" square.
I love the scrappiness of it!
Is that a word?

I lie

I told a lie this week...
I needed to pick up a quilt at the quilter's
and I promised Mr. b that I only wanted
one yard of fabric for a table topper I was working on.
When I got there I discovered they had just got in
Penny Royal fabrics by Emily Hayes.
10 yards later...
and a stack of Riley Blake "Farm Girl" fat quarters
I returned to the car labeled a fabricator.

bearly there

Mr. b was tossing out some old work shirts the other day.
They have a company logo on them making them obsolete.
I picked one out of the pile and decided to make a jumper for a granddaughter.
"Tildy Designs" by barb
For the facings and front heart I chose "bearly there"
by The Alexander Henry fabrics collection.
I stitched around the hem with a turtle stitch.
Okay...I need to check out that pile of shirts again.
Didn't forget baby.

UnPaper Towels

I bought a yard of diaper fabric to make nine cloth towels.
Do you go through paper towels like we do?
I like any excuse to use my serger.
If you are interested in making your own
you can find a lot of instructions for them on Pinterest.

Sunday mornings at our house can only be described as laid back.

Toad in a hole breakfast...

with some bird watching.

Happy Birthday! Dakota Man
He's a handy guy to have around.
When he's not being my carpenter...

or screen printing..

...he likes to work on paint by number pictures.

And lucky me...
he also helps with house chores!

Do you recall these zipper pouches
I made for our 8-year-old granddaughters?
Today I made lanyards for them.

Does anyone else view the produce section
of their grocery store like an art gallery?
If I were a painter...
...I would set my easel in the middle
of the produce aisle and begin painting.
The best I can do is take it home and make soup.

puppet show

It is hard to put on a puppet show
with only one puppet in the toy box.
Enough time has passed that I forgot how tricky these are to make
and vowed then to NOT make any more.
All three are made with recycled wool sweaters that have been felted.
This moose is my favorite.
When the granddaughters come again
we can put on a proper puppet show.

We took in a little volleyball this weekend...

Forget the Super Bowl...
is there anything more fun than attending grand events?
I made them these fun pouches
and grandpa put a little spending money in them.
It's an easy pattern by Noodlehead.

February 1 already...
or only 3 months until camping season.
