bots

robot family from Dakota Man.

Our youngest granddaughters tested them out and loved them.

So cute!

Making apple butter takes hours...

First all those apples have to be peeled and cored.
Then I make applesauce on top of the stove with them.
Then I add sugar and cinnamon and bake it in the oven for hours.

All I had to show for my hard work was two pints of apple butter...
which I don't even eat. However Mr. b loves it.

art

Another fan favorite painting from Mr. b.

He enjoys doing paint-by-number pictures
 and I enjoy the pictures.
How's that for teamwork?

be a hippy

I've loved the adorned hippy blue jean jackets
since my first one in the 1970's.

This is probably the fifth one I've made for granddaughters.

We've given three of the girls a razor scooter
and a blue jean jacket on their 5th birthdays
and then again a few years later again.
So, I have a few to go yet.

Ghosts

We have two little spooks staying with us for a few days.

You can't come to Grandma's house
without a new pillowcase that she made for your bed.
These little ghosts light up in the dark.

houses

Some houses are so beautiful that they warrant a stop
to turn around and take a picture.

We caught this home in Spencer, Iowa.

I think I was really meant to live in Spencer
in this house!

I'm sure I would change my mind on cleaning days.

Halloween Elf

Yesterday's (Sunday) forecast was cloudy with a chance of knitting.

I knit this Wee Jolly Elf and am hooked.
I will definitely be knitting a few more before Christmas gets here.
But for now he is a Halloween Elf.

pumpkin patch

As we were cruising down the highway of life Sunday
we came across a pumpkin farm in what seemed like the middle of nowhere.

You can bet that we did turn around and go back to buy a couple of pumpkins.

Do you have your doorstep decorated?

chicken stock

Today's Mission:
5 quarts of chicken stock.

It's so easy making your own chicken stock
 from your rotisserie chicken 'carcass'
in your pressure cooker.

To make your own chicken stock:
Place the bones in 8 cups water.
Add sliced carrots, celery, minced garlic and chopped onions.
Place in the pressure cooker for 10 minutes on high pressure.
I almost always use the slow release.
Add 1 tablespoon of garlic salt.
Strain.

If I can't get to making my stock at the moment
I will throw the bones in a plastic bag
and freeze until I can make the broth.

soccer

It was a soccer weekend for us.
Two days of fresh air and Iowa sunshine.

Our twin granddaughters are thick as thieves.

Well...most of the time.

They were pretty excited to win the tournament in their age division.

robots

Mr. b is back in the robot business.

I bought the downloads for them and he is cutting them out for me.
I am the mod podger.
As you recall me saying..."mod podging is therapeutic."

"Modge Bot"

They are extra fun as all the pieces are put together with stick on Velcro.
Next up is letting the granddaughters test them out.

Miss Maggie

"You sure did give me grief."
But I'm glad she is finally down off the shelf and finished.

She called for lots of hand stitching
which at times completely stumped me.
I may challenge myself to make another one...later.
