happy birthday

We celebrated daughter-knit and pearl's birthday last week.

She is our chicken girl and is fighting city hall to keep her 4 chickens where she lives.
One bad apple there grew her flock to 20+ and lets them free range.
Didn't we learn that in school where one naughty kid in the class
takes away the entire classes privileges? I never could understand that.

I enjoy making greeting cards as I seldom do it.

Friday post card

I'm enjoying the last of my tulips
and looking forward to the bloom of the olive trees.

rescue

I had Mr b rescue a rejected birdhouse
for me from his workshop this week.
He built it from scraps and it turned out a little crooked and too big.

I asked if he could make it into a shorter one for me
so he cut it in half and I had two of them to play with.
I'm still working on the second one.

I found a tattered Little Golden Book that I had
picked up at our local library a while back
to cut up and glue on my birdhouse.

Don't you love a recycled project that turns out this cute?

keeping the faith

This is what I made from my little stack of two inch squares...

Pocket Prayer Quilts

It's a cute idea I saw on Instagram.
Mr. b cut out the little crosses that I used inside of the quilts.

goals

Yesterday I put the last two rows on my July 4 quilt.
I'm hoping to have it backed and quilted by then.
That's not much time in this busy season.

fresh vegetables

Daughter knit and pearl and I are craving the same things.

She sent me this small snack mat that she had made.

I was definitely ready trade it out with my winter coffee mat.

Friday post card

I wonder what one of these critters is worth in the current climate?
Over $5 a pound for hamburger?!
Not on this girl's plate for sure.

for the birds

When you can't get out to go to Hallmark...

Oh who am I kidding?
I buy all  my cards at The Dollar Store
and you should too!

I made these birthday cards at home yesterday.
They will definitely be one of a kind.

scraps

I finished this Japanese Rice Bag today
using little fussy cuts of my novelty fabrics.

What do you think a little girl would keep in it?

Mother's Day

Yesterday I started Mother's Day off
with Texas strawberries on my pancakes.
It's dessert for breakfast!

After  breakfast I moved on to a new project
involving these little quilt squares.

I love a new scrap project.
More on this later.
I spent the rest of the day watching movies.

chicken

Saw this cute coaster on Pinterest
and I was ready for anything NOT
blood white and blue.
Although my July 4th quilt is coming along nicely.

Yes...you read that right.
I tried cutting my finger tip off this weekend with my rotary cutter.
That blade cut right across my finger nail like it was fabric.

Anywho...isn't this chicken cute?

These jam-filled oatmeal bars are pretty good.
For some reason I have been into oatmeal lately.
I have a lot of jelly in my basement canning room.
The recipe takes three-fourth of a cup
so it's a good way to get through some of it.

What am I up today?
Do you see what I see?
The wheels are always turning at our house.

Patriotic

We are craving summer weather at our house
Yesterday Mr. b dug out "The Beetle Bug"
and cleaned it and blew out the cobwebs.

Inside I started a red white and blue quilt for the 4th of July.
I was amazed at how many different fabrics I have in blue and red.
More amazing is that no matter how many scrap quilts I make
it never seems to put a dent in my stash.
