Bagging it

More of my weekend bags...

For the lining I was feeling playful.
I wanted to put a comic book in it for a fun picture but
did you know that comic books are $4! EACH!
I couldn't believe it.
I remember when they were a dime each
and dad would buy us four kids a dollars worth on a trip.
To keep us quiet I'm sure.
Wow! did we have a lot of them.

I think this next purse turned out so feminine...

with it's dotted lining.

This pattern is a new one for our
Dakota Maid shop,
and was a lot of fun making. ~b

patchwork

I have been feeling patchwork itchy here lately...
like I would like to begin making a quilt.

I know how expensive quilt making can be.
Today's quilt makers aren't using the bags
their flour came in are they?

Remember the last quilt I made took me two years to complete!

I think these toddler bibs just may satisfy my itch for the time being.

I used one charm square pak to make all three...

and three fat quarters for the backs.

In only a few hours,
they are ready for our Dakota Maid label...
 and made in the USA

anatomy of a monster

Hot weather doesn't deter my knitting and crocheting.
I just tend to go with smaller projects.

Small...as in monster parts.

Watch those teeth!

Not to worry,
I only make friendly monsters.

Not the kind you find under your bed...

Just look for a ribbon...
only friendly monsters wear bows you know.

Best friends forever!

duck

I had a very productive weekend...
and finished up lots of sewing projects.

I love mixing patterns up.
The patchwork design is the same on both sides of this bag.

Flowers and plaid...perfect wouldn't you say?
I may have a hard time giving this one up.

And because this picture matches the bag so well,
I just had to include it in this post. ~b

red, white and blue

How was your 4th?
Did you celebrate?

Me and the Mr. spent the holiday alone...
together...
so we set out on a little overnight road trip.

I would have to say it was nicely boring.
We enjoyed a luxury motel room
and some fantastic food.

Have you had Granite City's peppered bacon flatbread pizza?
And I always have to have their cheddar ale soup.

A quilt shop stop is always on my agenda.
The ideal town would include a quilt shop and
a yarn shop for me.

And so a trip like this means
we must return to work tomorrow...darn. ~ b

July

Are you ready for a little celebrating?

I like some fun fireworks.
But Mr. b...
he does get carried away with them.
I left him in the fireworks store to buy a few little things for the grands...
and out he comes with a big (huge) shopping bag of them.
Yes...I knew better.

It's lucky for us that they are legal to discharge
right here in our driveway. ~ b

twins

Twin...

Monsters!

This past weekend we had our twin granddaughters here
and we biked, swam, lit fireworks,
rode in grandpa's 1973 Volkswagen Bug,
played in the hot tub,
footpainted the driveway...
and spent lots of time in grandma's sewing room
where we made these cute monster bean bags
as well as a few other fun things. ~ b
