colors

 I need more colors in my world. Summer has lost it's appeal to me...I mean this heat!

 Watering has become a chore.

This is the Public Market in Seattle. All I could do was admire the flowers as we were boarding a ship the next day.

alaska

We've been talking about seeing Alaska for years and just never could decide how to get there...

by land, by sea or by air. Beating up our vehicle and camper to get there just didn't sound very fun.

We finally made the decision to drive to Seattle

and take an intercoastal cruise through Alaska's inside passage.

Mr. b visited the Space Needle at the 1962 World's Fair with his family.

He was nine at the time and didn't meet the height requirement to go up

so here he is 64 years later at the top.

After a night in Seattle we got on our 7- day cruise ship.

 

It was a beautiful trip and I would advice everyone to put in on their bucket list.

Paper

Add making paper to my list of endeavors.

  I've had this on my "try it" list for awhile thinking it would be fun to do with the granddaughters at grandma's summer camp.

I bought my inexpensive frames from Amazon but will ask my resident woodworker to make me a couple more of them in different sizes. We always have a bag of shredded paper from old bills and such.

I stamped a couple to use as notecards.

Eggs

 While we were gone this winter I found a few projects for dakota man to make once we got home.

This egg holder didn't keep him busy for long.

It will keep my eggs from rolling off the counter when I'm cooking and it won't take up any space in the drawer although I bet it never gets put away for long.

Birds

Spring birds for a new quilt. 

It's always fun to start a quilt. I need 40 birds for it so hope I can hang in there and finish it before I get bored making them.

It's a scrappy project and you know how I love using up what I already have.

Happy Easter

             We are back home from Texas and raring to go after a nice winter break.

              I put the heavy quilts away and got this one out. The house is still a little chilly.

Our lunch will be an egg bake and there may be a couple of pieces of key lime pie that made it back. 

Yesterday I printed off two new patterns, a tote bag and a quilt. I need to learn how bottle up this feeling of euphoria.

Oh Galveston

We enjoy that Galveston is so historical.

I like to vision the city when homes like these were built.

They are in the heart of the city not far from the gulf.

We leave here to head north in 11 days.

Beach days

                          Our beach days go by quickly here on the Gulf of Mexico.

B is for bee

 It's February already.

I put down my embroidery project to finish this crochet project. I would be happy to finish three projects in progress this first quarter of the year.

They had organic blueberries in the supermarket this week 

and I love making homemade jelly.

So maybe b is for blueberries.

Texas

 My days go by far too quickly. We have been in Texas two weeks and absent here for longer than that.

               I discovered this baby blanket in the cupboard so I have been working on it.

Dakota Man made this for daughter knit and pearls Christmas.

In Texas style I made poblano creamed corn yesterday.

It is a sunny 73 degrees here today with a blizzard brewing up back home.

Life is good.

Blue

 I've been doing a little last minute doll knitting.

Some knitting, some painting and some reading...

I am enjoying these last days before Christmas.

Santa

 I was playing around in my little sewing sweatshop a few weeks ago 

when Mr. B gave me a pair of his worn out jeans.

The bag size is too small for my needs so I'm hoping a granddaughter will claim it.

This picture may need a few tweaks but I wanted to keep it loose.

We are enjoying every day leading up to Christmas. They just go by so quickly.

Giving

Dont you just love a thoughtful gift? 

And a house decorated beautifully for Christmas? I wish it was mine but no it's my sister's where we spent a night dog sitting for her and her husband. 

My November stack of books finished a week late.

Steamers

 Making shower steamers is easy.

Just a few ingredients is all it takes to make your shower a little nicer and as it looks like a busy week here one of these will be perfect.

A loaf of pumpkin bread in the old cast iron pan.

When the frost is on the pumpkin the squirrels are happy.

We have turkeys in our neighborhood.

Leaves

 My 'Falling Leaves' quilt is finished and ready to use...

and just in time for our 'Falling Temps'.

Dakota Man made me this sweet little barn quilt for the house.

It's a busy little house that we live in.

Door County

 We got to eat at Door Counties famous Al Johnson's restaurant for my birthday last month. The one with goats on the roof. We ordered Scandinavian pancakes with lingonberry syrup and meatballs. We were not disappointed.

                                       Afterwards we browsed their cute gift shops.

We came home and made the cute pixies we saw there. I'm always on the lookout for projects we can make together. Dakota Man turned the wood and I did the painting. One for each of our granddaughters.
