long walks

I've had a surge of energy here in the last few days...
and a very good reason for it.

I go into the fix-it shop for a little body work tomorrow.
It will involve the walker that my family showed up with on my 50th birthday.
Thank heaven I've kept it all these years huh?

If the doctor asks me what I'm going to do
now that I will be able to walk pain free...
I will say of course...
"Go to Disneyland!"
No. Not really...
I will just be happy to begin fitness walking again.

And our new little granddaughter will need a sunbonnet
for all those stroller walks we can do.

serging

I almost forgot to share my splurge with you...
Mr. b insisted I buy it and I'm so glad he did.

I bought a Janome serger...
and I haven't stopped serging since!

Look at that perfect seam!
I've always hated the look of home sewing with
raw and fraying seams.

I'm (with Mr. b's help) still working on tension issues.
He also threads it for me. What a guy huh?

I think this outfit will get daughter knit and pearl's approval.
She's a Disney girl.

"I'm thumpin!
That's why they call me Thumper!"

More nappy covers...

WOW!
It's hot here in South Dakota today.

I hope you all have a cool job
in front of a fan today...

I got my work done early so I can
sew diaper covers all afternoon.

Can you blame me?
They are just so darn sweet!

baby hats

"Leave everyone wondering which is the more interesting piece of work...
you or your hat."

I wonder if this tomato hat is organic?

I've had a sort of hat infatuation here lately...
I get one hat done and start another immediately.

This yellow hat and the pink hat are knit with
100% cotton yarn...

The same yarn I use to knit my dish rags.
When baby outgrows it...
mama can use it to wash her dishes.

Bloomers

There's this type of bloomers...

and then there's this kind of bloomers...

Ruffled bloomers for little butts.

Aren't they sweet?

.

They're bloomers that are meant to be seen.

And I've been getting practice making ruffles
which sometimes manage to ruffle my feathers.

F U N

Our six-year-old granddaughters
were here the last four days...

and we squeezed in as much fun as we could.

Aren't these little zipper pouches they painted cute?
They love doing craft projects.

I taped fabric onto a piece of cardboard
and let them use fabric markers to decorate.
It took me very little time to sew the squares
into zipper pouches to hold the little unicorns
they got in their happy meals at McDonalds.

I took a picture from their new color books
and traced it onto a piece of muslin for them to stitch around.

I was surprised at how quickly they learned to stitch.

I made them these cute shorts from a pattern I found on the internet...
FREE too!
Those large pockets will be perfect
for all those little treasures they can't resist picking up.

sunny stitching

My flowers and I have been enjoying
all the sunshine we have been having.

Inside there is a lot of baby sewing and knitting going on.
I call it sunny stitching.

It's the greatest to be able to stitch by a sunny window.

Daughter knit and pearl's due date will soon be here.

Hello...

How was your holiday?

I splurged a bit Saturday...
but I'll share that later.

under the boardwalk

Happy 4th!

I wish I could send you a postcard from
Long Beach, California...

I would write a message on the back telling you
how much fun I'm having.

But sadly I'm not there
and certainly not on (or under) this boardwalk.

We'll be lighting our firecrackers here in South Dakota.

Have a safe one.

This postcard from my collection
was sent from Whittier, Ca. to Lennox, SD. in 1929.
