rag bag

After enjoying 5 days of vacation from my job...
I was NOT ready to go back?

I'm enjoying crocheting on something new  here...
A rag bag.
Crocheting rags is not completely new to me,
I have done rugs using the same.
It calls for old sheets but we never seem to wear out sheets at our house?
And if I did they would make for a dull bag as I like plain sheets,
the whiter the better.
So, thank heaven for WalMart's $2 yard fabric.
This yellow and blue is a favorite color combination of mine.
I had it completely done when I decided I didn't like the shape
and tore it all out to begin again.
So later...b

trippin'

Pa and I loaded up the jalopy for the long Memorial Day weekend
and headed way up north to daughter knit and pearl's...

When I say way up north...
I mean it's a seven hour road trip straight north
almost all the way to the Canada border.

It would have been so much quicker to fly...

But it could be worse right...

It's a beautiful scenic drive through farmland...
they raise mostly canola in North Dakota.

I hope this farmer remembered to honor the veteran's
that fought for his freedom to farm his land.

Mr. b is a veteran, but we made him work.
He and our daughter's CEO installed 4 exterior doors in their home,
and they did a fabulous job.

I love a pretty country church...
can you hear the congregation singing Rock Of Ages?
Our trip takes us past numerous country churches.

My sister of Sall's Country Life takes great pictures of old barns.

We know we're there when we see the Rolla water tower...

All these great pictures are part of this mural
painted by Rolla artists on the side of one of their main street buildings.

Me and Mr. b make great traveling companions...
he drives -
I 'knit and pearl.'

Farm Fresh Friday

Meet the newest member of my little barnyard of knitted animals...

Miss Baabaara Wooledge

She was another pain in my...side to knit.

...tiny feet
tiny legs
ears
and that fluffy yarn!

I will NOT be knitting her a sibling...
she will be an "only sheep".

We are headed way up north
for an over-due visit to Daughter Knit and Pearl's.
Maybe I'll see a moose!

5 stars

I highly recommend this movie...

It is just a "nice" movie.

And the music to the movie was enough to make me go out and buy the soundtrack.

I just love me a good movie
with good music!

on the rocks...

How do you like your granddaughters?
On the rocks?

When we took our granddaughters to the water falls
I thought they would head to see the water
or for the bridges over the water...

But NO! they only wanted to play on the rocks.

Maybe they get their heads together
and decide to give grandma a good worry?

hats away

I just can't believe I'm seeing kids out of school for the summer here already.
Am I jealous? You bet I am!

I crocheted these hats for the grans
and while I was thinking they were too big
I was hoping they would not be...

So...
while I was right I was wrong.
They are too big and would probably fit a
teenagers head.

So...into our Dakota Maid shop they will go
and I will begin again on a smaller hat
because they are so darn sweet,
(the hats and the granddaughters).

morning doves

Good Morning...

Morning Doves at our feeders.
Aren't they just the sweetest birds?

We are off later today for a fun-filled weekend
with the granddaughters.
I can't believe they turn four tomorrow.
They are growing up faster than our two children did...
if that's possible?

Oz

I like Dr. Oz and trust everything he says...

When he said a Bloody Mary in the morning
 is a good appetite suppressant...
I went right out to the kitchen and mixed one up.
He left out one key ingredient -
vodka, go figure.

in my neighborhood...

Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood? In your neighborhood?
  In your neighborhood?
Say, who are the people in your neighborhood?

'Cause a postman is a person in your neighborhood
In your neighborhood She's in your neighborhood
A postman is a person in your neighborhood...
A person that you meet each day

'Cause a fireman is a person in your neighborhood
In your neighborhood He's in your neighborhood

and the neighborhood policeman.

And of course our neighborhood has a mayor...

These are the people in our neighborhood...
in our neighborhood
The people that we meet each day.

You know how you get a song in your head?
And you just can't get it out?
Well, this Sesame Street song has been going
round and round in my head.
So here it is for your head now too, ha.

finding the beauty...

What do you see in this picture?
The old junk vehicle...
or the beautiful flowers surrounding it?

Can you hear the baby birds in this dilapidated birdhouse?

And isn't this old shed beautiful surrounded by all the foliage?

Finding the beauty can sometimes be difficult...
but it's always there if we choose to see it.

sheep

Have you ever wondered where acrylic yarn comes from?

Acrylic sheep?
Do acrylic sheep need to be sheared too?

I was given three skeins of this Red Heart yarn a few years ago.
I think the colors are so pretty together.
It will be a baby afghan when I'm finished.
I love working with variegated yarn...never boring.
This pattern has been around for years and is so easy.

the beginning

This is the beginning of my story...

My obsession with purse making all began with this bag.

I spotted it in a quilt magazine featuring a shop in Wyoming
and instantly loved it.

I found the number for the shop on Internet...
(gotta love Internet!)
called the shop who said they would ship
the pattern and fabrics out to me immediately.

As the pattern and fabrics were terribly expensive
I decided to make a test purse...
then another test purse...
then another...
Until I decided some of these purses have got to go
and I began selling them.

Approximately 10 bags later I was confident
I had the skill and confidence to cut into my 'Buffalo Bill' fabric.

Isn't it great? I love it!

The End

dance

Dance like no one's watching...

sing like no one's listening...

or like a four-year-old at a recital.

Our granddaughters were so sweet at their recital...
they choke this grandma up every year.

They were beautiful in their tutus.

tis the season

It's rhu-barb season...

which also coincides with the same season that I am wondering
and planning how I'm going to fit into my summer clothes?

But NOT this year...
No Nope NOT this year!

I have made up my mind I am going to
 celebrate and enjoy rhubarb season.

So come on over and celebrate with me.
We'll raise our glasses to rhubarb season...
and it may even be with rhubarb wine.
